Release Notes

This release consists of a single source-code file that contains C# code and instructions for adapting and using it.

Changes include
  • creating the TDS assembly as an application (TDS.exe) instead of as a library (TDS.dll), allowing it to be run independently of the code being developed and tested. TDS is now started by selecting the TDS project as the startup project instead of by specifying the Debug configuration, the method used in previous versions. This allows TDS to be run in the absence of Visual Studio or a test platform such as NUnit. (Previous releases expect VS to be running; that is now optional.)
  • adding script files to call TDS.exe from the Windows command prompt or from Windows PowerShell, as examples of automating TDS runs. They don't actually do much beyond what TDS.exe by itself will do.
  • (slightly) updated instructions are intended to make the phrasing a bit clearer in places.

To keep examples of testable code simple, all of them are still Console applications and all are still written in C#.

Note: Having found a mistake in the source code, I have substituted a corrected version for the original TDS.cs in this release. The uncorrected copy is still available, if you wish to compare it with the new version (specifically, line 2837 should not contain a "!" character), and it is called "TDS_AsOf13L17.cs". The corrected version is more consistent with the instructions, and I am sorry for any confusion I may have caused with that mistake.
